Program Helps Employers Curb Costs of Divorce in Workplace

Brentwood, TN (PRWEB) August 31, 2011

A new program available to Tennessee employers is aimed at helping them control workplace costs associated with reduced productivity and absenteeism by employees going through a divorce. The program, developed by Middle Tennessee Divorce Financial Expert Rosemary Frank, combines employee group seminars with individual consulting as well as referral services to allied divorce professionals like attorneys, therapists and child specialists who also specialize in divorce.

Rosemary Frank says, ?Other than parenting issues, if minor children are involved, divorce is all about money. Everything else, the love, hopes, dreams and plans are gone.? She adds, ?If we can alleviate the worse points of anxiety during divorce with financial information and insight, employees will be more focused on work, more productive, and less distracting to other employees, than if they were in a constant state of distress.?

As businesses look for ways to reduce expenses during a difficult economy, divorce among employees continues to impose a share of the cost upon employers. Recent surges in divorce filings during 2011, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and noted by courthouses around the country, ABC News, and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, mean that more employees will bring their problems to work with them and become less productive for a while.

Findings of the Life Innovations Study ?Marriage and Family Wellness: Corporate America?s Business?? concluded that relationship-related stress costs employers about $ 300 billion annually. Divorce is the culmination of such stress. Other studies have shown that divorce impacts an employee?s productivity and effectiveness in the workplace for three to five years, or longer.

In addition to productivity issues for divorcing employees, and other workers around them, higher health-related costs due to stress and depression are also borne by the employer. Assisting employees in some way to mitigate the financial distress caused by divorce is becoming a high-priority item.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) most often address the symptoms of divorce with mental health services. However, since money and family finances have long been recognized as the number one cause of divorce, it follows that financial issues would be the most contentious during divorce. Assistance focused on the financial issues of divorce, with intentions to decrease the stress, duration and uncertainties of divorce are a meaningful addition to traditional EAP services.

Restoring normalcy in the workplace is every employer?s wish following the disruptive forces of divorce. Unfortunately, with the divorce rate at a steady 50% and no changes expected, disruption in the workplace due to divorce becomes a constant condition to be managed, just the players change.

An optional component of the program is a management seminar, Dollars of Divorce: Workplace Impact. Ms. Frank says, ?The material is intended to help managers better understand the effects of divorce upon employees, how to control its impact upon job performance and overall productivity, and how to create more loyal employees for having cared in some way. Frank adds, ?In the hierarchy of life?s tragic events, divorce is said to be second only to the loss of a child.?

Announcing New Program that Pampers Moms Right When They Need it Most at Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital

Charleston, SC (PRWEB) September 01, 2011

When a child is born there is a flurry of excitement and celebration that can sometimes leave a mom in need of a little attention. Even the most organized expecting parents may not have thought to pack the hospital suitcase with special treats to help revive and pamper the exhausted mom after the happy bundle arrives.

That?s why at Roper St. Francis (RSF) Mount Pleasant Hospital?s Women?s Center, expecting moms get to expect a little something extra in addition to the main attraction. The hospital announced today that women delivering their babies in the hospital?s Mother and Baby unit get to choose between three gifts to help them feel pampered.

?After giving birth a massage was just what I wanted. My hands and feet really needed some TLC,? said Elizabeth B., a new mom who delivered her baby at RSF Mount Pleasant Hospital. ?It was really special. All of the attention, as it should be, was on my sweet new baby boy. But moms need to take care of themselves too, which is why this gift meant so much.?

Women who give birth at RSF Mount Pleasant Hospital can choose one of three following well-earned indulgences:

????White waffle knit robe with plush terry lining
????30-minute massage with aroma scalp treatment (gift card to Mom Spa)
????30-minute massage with paraffin hand or foot treatment (gift card to Mom Spa)

?Giving birth is a physical challenge and is just the beginning of a very exciting, but demanding time in a woman?s life,? explained Happy Everett, RN, Clinical Manager, Women?s, Infants? and Children?s Services, Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital. ?Taking a few minutes to relax with a massage or to be wrapped in the comfort of a cozy new robe can be just the little boost a new mom needs to get energized again.?

Everett says the massages and foot treatments are especially well-received by patients. ?During pregnancy a woman?s feet are changed and strained by hormone fluctuations and by carrying much more weight than normal. They swell and ache. Their bodies are adjusting and changing each day. The massage and foot treatment after birth is a welcome luxury for many of our moms.?

More than 200 babies have been delivered at Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital since it opened 11 months ago. The 85-bed hospital, located just off Hwy 17 North is situated between Wando High School and Park West. There is an entrance dedicated just for the Mother and Baby Unit. Labor and delivery suites offer all modern technologies but with the feel of home.

?My experience could not have gone any better. As I was having a C-section, I understood the higher level of care I would need,? added Elizabeth B. The staff could not have been more caring. If you want a great level of care and expertise, Roper St. Francis Mt. Pleasant Hospital is the best place to have your baby.?

Training Program to Stimulate Wyoming Green Job Market

Casper, WY (PRWEB) September 09, 2011

In partnership with national Green Jobs training provider CleanEdison, Casper College is offering a new training program for Wyoming contractors and novices looking to enter the Green economy. Program administrators at Casper College are thrilled to announce this tremendous opportunity for Wyoming residents to be introduced to new skills and training in these promising new sectors. ?Being able to get someone training they need to be more successful as an employee or business owner is really what makes this all worthwhile.? said Sarah Olson, Workforce Training Specialist at Casper College.

Following the successful Geothermal training conducted last March, Casper College is now offering Deconstruction & Materials Re-Use training in combination with Lead Renovator (Lead RRP) training. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) now requires that firms performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in pre-1978 homes, child care facilities and schools be certified by EPA and that they use certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers to follow lead-safe work practices. Firms that fail to comply with EPA?s new Lead RRP training rule may face civil fines up to $ 32,500 per offense and an additional criminal fine of $ 32,500 plus imprisonment for knowing and willful violations.

This new training is available to all Wyoming citizens regardless of income, residency, or employment stat State Energy Sector Partnership grant awarded to Casper College from the Department of Labor as part of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act. Whereas these in-demand certifications normally cost anywhere from $ 800 to $ 3,500, this grant allows contractors to receive the same national certifications for $ 75 for the Lead RRP or $ 100 for the Deconstruction course, which also includes OSHA certification.????????

Students who complete the training will be certified to perform work in accordance with new EPA requirements and, should they go on to the Deconstruction portion, be prepared to work on projects that use this sustainable and economical alternative to traditional demolition in which up to 90% of materials are salvaged for reuse. Students will learn the various principles of Deconstruction and materials reuse as well as the ways in which these practices contribute the overall green building and sustainable design movements that are fast-becoming the accepted standard for new construction around the country. The combination of classroom practicum and hands-on field training will enable training participants to quickly transition into the expanding green job market. Wyoming residents interested in participating in this reduced-cost program should contact Sarah Olson at Casper College, at 307-268-3111.
