Announcing New Program that Pampers Moms Right When They Need it Most at Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital

Charleston, SC (PRWEB) September 01, 2011

When a child is born there is a flurry of excitement and celebration that can sometimes leave a mom in need of a little attention. Even the most organized expecting parents may not have thought to pack the hospital suitcase with special treats to help revive and pamper the exhausted mom after the happy bundle arrives.

That?s why at Roper St. Francis (RSF) Mount Pleasant Hospital?s Women?s Center, expecting moms get to expect a little something extra in addition to the main attraction. The hospital announced today that women delivering their babies in the hospital?s Mother and Baby unit get to choose between three gifts to help them feel pampered.

?After giving birth a massage was just what I wanted. My hands and feet really needed some TLC,? said Elizabeth B., a new mom who delivered her baby at RSF Mount Pleasant Hospital. ?It was really special. All of the attention, as it should be, was on my sweet new baby boy. But moms need to take care of themselves too, which is why this gift meant so much.?

Women who give birth at RSF Mount Pleasant Hospital can choose one of three following well-earned indulgences:

????White waffle knit robe with plush terry lining
????30-minute massage with aroma scalp treatment (gift card to Mom Spa)
????30-minute massage with paraffin hand or foot treatment (gift card to Mom Spa)

?Giving birth is a physical challenge and is just the beginning of a very exciting, but demanding time in a woman?s life,? explained Happy Everett, RN, Clinical Manager, Women?s, Infants? and Children?s Services, Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital. ?Taking a few minutes to relax with a massage or to be wrapped in the comfort of a cozy new robe can be just the little boost a new mom needs to get energized again.?

Everett says the massages and foot treatments are especially well-received by patients. ?During pregnancy a woman?s feet are changed and strained by hormone fluctuations and by carrying much more weight than normal. They swell and ache. Their bodies are adjusting and changing each day. The massage and foot treatment after birth is a welcome luxury for many of our moms.?

More than 200 babies have been delivered at Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital since it opened 11 months ago. The 85-bed hospital, located just off Hwy 17 North is situated between Wando High School and Park West. There is an entrance dedicated just for the Mother and Baby Unit. Labor and delivery suites offer all modern technologies but with the feel of home.

?My experience could not have gone any better. As I was having a C-section, I understood the higher level of care I would need,? added Elizabeth B. The staff could not have been more caring. If you want a great level of care and expertise, Roper St. Francis Mt. Pleasant Hospital is the best place to have your baby.?

Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) December 06, 2011

Vivacare announced that it has partnered with text4baby, the first free texting service to provide health information to pregnant women and new moms from pregnancy through a baby?s first year.

Vivacare, a provider of Web-based patient education services to physicians and other health professionals, will offer the text4baby service as part of its service offering to ob-gyns, pediatricians and family physicians.

Doctors enroll with Vivacare to gain access to a collection of personalized and customizable patient handouts that can be easily added to their own practice Websites. Handouts cover a wide range of maternal and child health topics, including pregnancy, prenatal care, prenatal tests, labor and delivery, child development, and vaccinations.

A new text4baby patient handout (?eHandout?) has been created for use by the doctors' patients that describes the text-messaging service and the benefits of enrolling. The new eHandout also includes links to the Text4baby Website for new or expecting moms to learn what to expect. The Text4baby eHandout will be provided as an option for display on the websites of physicians who specialize in women?s health or pediatric care.

?Our enrolled physicians and office staff will be pleased to offer their patients such an innovative and easy-to-use service that promotes maternal and child health?, said Dr. Mark Becker, pediatrician and founder of Vivacare. ?Vivacare seeks to make the physicians? own website the go-to place for health information. Women who sign up for the service by texting BABY to 511411 (or BEBE for Spanish) receive three free SMS text messages each week timed to their due date or baby?s date of birth. These messages focus on a variety of topics critical to maternal and child health, including birth defects prevention, immunization, nutrition, seasonal flu, mental health, oral health, safe sleep, and more. Text4baby messages also connect women to prenatal and infant care services and other resources.

Research shows Over 85% of Americans own a cell phone and 72% of cell users send or receive text messages.
