Local Event Helps Phoenix Children, One Miracle at a Time

Prescott, AZ (PRWEB) August 02, 2011

Robin Fleck, M.D and her staff worked alongside the Prescott, Arizona, Costco Corporation this past May to participate in the Children?s Miracle Network Fundraiser for the third year in a row. The event gives local businesses the opportunity to meet Costco customers while they shop, serving the Phoenix Children?s Hospital at the same time.

The Children?s Miracle Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for the Phoenix Children?s Hospital. Each year the hospital provides the finest in children?s medical care, life-saving research and preventative education to help many overcome a multitude of injuries and diseases. This fundraiser lets businesses contribute to a great cause while also being able to educate a diverse group of people.

At this event, Vein Specialties set up an on-site examination area where Dr. Fleck was able to answer questions about varicose vein treatments, such as endovenous laser treatment or EVLA and sclerotherapy, while also assessing a person?s need for treatment. ?Getting out into our community and meeting new people at health fairs like this has made a difference in how I run my own practice,? Robin Fleck stated. ?I have the chance to meet many people in a few hours' time and see exactly what the public is looking for in quality health care.? Many people are unaware of the severity and potential health risks that varicose veins represent, including leg ulcers and blood clots. This venue made it possible for Costco customers to approach Dr. Fleck with questions and concerns about their varicose veins and spider veins and also learn about the new advances in minimally invasive procedures which she administers at Vein Specialties.

Dr. Fleck?s cosmetic medical spa, Body Oasis Laser Aesthetics, was represented by two of her licensed laser technicians who distributed free samples of skin care products and gave advice on proper skin care and sun protection. ?Being able to speak face to face about the laser treatments we offer was very beneficial,? remarked Maureen Brogan, spa coordinator and laser technician. ?A lot of people don?t realize what laser treatments can accomplish with minimal downtime, such as correcting sun damaged skin or wrinkles. Before and after pictures are taken in our office so they can see the results right there.? Body Oasis also provides clients with a free consultation using the Visia computerized skin analysis system, helping clients see which laser treatment would best suit their needs.

The laser treatments offered at Body Oasis give clients the option of treating their aesthetic concerns without having to undergo cosmetic surgery. ?We are able to treat the delicate skin around the eyes to repair dark under-eye circles or even baggy eyelids,? commented Lisa Ramirez, laser technician at Body Oasis. ?We tell our clients that if they give us 5 days, we can give them back 5 years without having a facelift.? Other laser treatments available at Body Oasis focus on removing age spots, fine lines, acne scarring, and even hair removal.

?When speaking to the consumer, being knowledgeable about all aspects of the lasers we carry is the key,? Lisa Ramirez noted. ?We explain to a client how the laser works, as well as what to expect. This puts them at ease and lets them appreciate the amazing results.? The event supplied the platform for Body Oasis to target individuals who may not have been aware of the advantages of laser treatments, such as skin tightening and treating skin disorders like rosacea. ?When people learned we provide tattoo removal, they started to tell us stories about the ?regret? tattoos they have,? noted Lisa. ?This kind of event provides us with the chance to educate the public and tell them a little bit about what we do, while also helping the Children?s Miracle Network.?

Maureen Brogan delighted in telling people about the ActiveFX fractional resurfacing laser, having undergone treatment herself three years ago for dark circles under her eyes. ?People are thrilled when they see the results,? Maureen said. ?Active FX laser yields remarkable, long lasting results with just one treatment.? Maureen and Lisa, along with Deirdre Morris, administrative assistant for Southwest Skin and Cancer Institute, took time to inform potential clients about the dermatological services we provide. ?People love that our practice offers so many different services.? Maureen stated. ?We?re a one stop shopping convenience for our clients and they appreciate that. Whether it?s screening for skin cancer, evaluation of varicose veins or cosmetic treatment with dermal fillers like Restylane or Juvederm, if it has to do with skin, we have the training and experience to ensure you optimal results.?

Vein Specialties, Body Oasis Laser Aesthetics, and Southwest Skin and Cancer Institute would like to thank Costco for the opportunity to participate in this event, as well as extend a welcome to those that missed the fundraiser to call and speak with one of our experienced staff members about any of your skin care needs.

Historic Global Event to ?Jam Up? Child Trafficking and Slavery

Castle Rock, CO (PRWEB) November 03, 2011

An amazing global collaboration is taking place on November 11, 2011 (11-11-11) with over 300 bands, solo artists and a variety of other musicians performing in more than 30 countries for a historic worldwide stance against child trafficking and slavery as part of the TRAFFIC JAM Campaign (http://www.trafficjam.org).

Approximately 30 million people are trafficked and enslaved today. That's more than all four centuries of the trans-Atlantic slave trade combined. More than at any time in history. 80% of these slaves are women. 50% are children - children forced into the sex trade (raped up to twenty times a day) or as child soldiers (often made to kill their own friends and families) and as high-risk laborers (working dangerous jobs that no adult would ever consider). Childhoods stolen. Childhoods exploited and abused.

The 11-11-11 GLOBAL TRAFFIC JAM, facilitated by the TRAFFIC JAM Campaign (TRAFFIC JAM), consists of hundreds of bands from every continent performing simultaneous concerts to ?jam up? the trafficking of children around the world. These bands will all share a message of awareness about the global trafficking of children as part of their event.

Paul Myhill, the President and Founder of TRAFFIC JAM remarked, ?We are truly happy to see such a great global participation in this event. There is not a country in the world that isn?t impacted by slavery today, and on 11-11-11 many countries will be raising their guitars and voices for freedom.?

My Myhill added, ?November 11th is also Veteran?s Day in the United States. As we celebrate those who have fought and served for the freedom we currently enjoy, we are reminded of our compassion and responsibility to bring freedom to others.?

TRAFFIC JAM provides the participating bands with presentation tools - including statistics, talking points, child stories, and a related video. Bands will pick and choose from these materials depending on their presentation styles and preferences. These bands also set up online campaign pages for the event, but fundraising is not required for their participation. Mr. Myhill added, ?Although additional resources are obviously needed to fight this worldwide injustice, the GLOBAL TRAFFIC JAM event is about raising awareness as a global community ? with the understanding that, with awareness, active involvement soon follows.?

ABOUT THE TRAFFIC JAM CAMPAIGN:

The TRAFFIC JAM Campaign unites bands, celebrities and fans in the fight to stop child trafficking and slavery through personalized online fundraising pages and live events hosted all over the globe. By the end of 2011, more than 450 bands in over 40 countries will have participated in TRAFFIC JAM music events involving more than 200,000 people to raise awareness and funding to re-abolish slavery in our time.

The TRAFFIC JAM Campaign works in over 75 countries through more than 120 partnerships with trusted front-line practitioners engaged in human trafficking prevention, rescue and aftercare (restoration/rehabilitation) programs. 100% OF FUNDS RAISED GO DIRECTLY TO THESE IN-FIELD SPECIALISTS. No administrative fee is ever taken out by the TRAFFIC JAM Campaign for operational and fundraising costs. The TRAFFIC JAM Campaign is truly unique in this respect.

To date, the TRAFFIC JAM Campaign has impacted over 15,000 children the world over. Childhoods rescued. Childhood restored.

More information can be found at http://www.trafficjam.org and at the new TRAFFIC JAM page on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/trafficjamorg. Individual band information and quotes will be added there daily, starting on November 2nd.

Anniversary Event Provides Community Education About Cosmetic Procedures

Prescott, AZ (PRWEB) September 06, 2011

Body Oasis Laser Aesthetics staff and founder Dr. Robin Fleck celebrated six years at their Prescott location in August, welcoming local residents to enjoy live entertainment as well as learn about newly available alternatives to cosmetic surgery, such as the Active FX CO2 fractional laser treatment, new techniques for injecting dermal fillers for facial rejuvenation, and recent additions to the Botox market including Dysport and Xeomin.

Alumni of the Active FX laser resurfacing were on hand to answer questions from those interested in the procedure. ?It is gratifying to see our alumni participate in these events,? remarked Jan Gillum, office manager of Southwest Skin and Cancer Institute. ?We have before and after pictures to demonstrate the radical improvement they?ve experienced and they have their own story to tell.? The alumni shared details about the procedure and the recovery process. ?Showcasing our patients allows everyone to see the amazing results we are seeing with these new laser procedures while providing realistic expectations about the healing involved,? notes Deirdre Morris, administrative assistant for Southwest Skin and Cancer Institute.

The reception started with an informative lecture by Dr. Fleck outlining the cosmetic procedures offered at all three offices, followed by a live demonstration of a Dysport treatment on an audience volunteer. The live injection gave the audience the opportunity to see how painless and quick these procedures are as well as provided an opportunity to ask Dr. Fleck and the patient questions about the injections as they were taking place. ?I was surprised how fast the treatment was and that I had no bruising or pain afterward,? remarked Jane Raimondo, lucky recipient of the Dysport injections. ?I would recommend this to everyone.? Those that hadn?t experienced a Dysport treatment first hand were amazed at the different areas that could be addressed including frown lines, crow?s feet, upper lip wrinkles and sagging jowls. ?This is why we call it the ?lunchtime liquid face lift?,? stated Dr. Fleck. ?It takes less than a half hour, and we will give you back 5 years.?

Representatives from various medical and laser companies were also present at the event. Medicis, the company responsible for dermal fillers such as Perlane and Restylane, and laser representatives from Candela and Lumenis were on hand to explain how their products and treatments work. ?For the clients we see, this is the perfect event to get some solid information on treatments they may be considering, but don?t know enough about,.? noted Maureen Brogan, laser technician at Body Oasis medical spa. ?The importance of having these experienced reps at an event like this is so they can speak to the aesthetic consumer about their products and how they can work for clients? specific issues.?

After the lecture and demonstration, the guests were invited to tour the facility and take in the multitude of services offered, from varicose vein treatment to nonsurgical cosmetic rejuvenation.

At Body Oasis, guests were treated to free Visia computerized skin analysis to see the actual sun damage that can be accrued living in the Southwest. The Visia takes three photographs of your face and can demonstrate pore size, wrinkles, UV damage, oils in the skin, and overall skin tone when compared to peers the same age. A Visia skin analysis is used at Body Oasis as a starting tool to find out what a client?s problems and concerns are, and then a treatment plan is developed to address those specific issues.

Complimentary test spots with their state-of-the-art Light Sheer Duet permanent hair reduction laser was also provided to show how painless laser treatments have become. This laser is equipped with a larger handpiece that allows for treatment of an entire back in fifteen minutes.

Dr. Fleck hosted a slide show featuring information about the causes and treatment of varicose veins and spider veins. At Vein Specialties, Dr.Fleck provides the latest advances in laser treatment of varicose veins including endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) and sclerofoam injections. Potential clients learned that most insurance companies cover these procedures, which require no downtime. Patients can return to work the same day.

The reception was a platform not only to demonstrate the ease and affordability of the cosmetic and laser treatments administered at our offices, but also to educate the guests on the proper way to protect their skin against sun damage. Dr. Fleck also consulted patients about the harmful effects of using over the counter sunscreens and sun blocks. ?People gain a false sense of security when using sunscreens,? Dr. Fleck noted. ?They aren?t 100% protected from harmful UV-A radiation yet they tend to spend more time in the sun when using sunscreens. This leads to chronic conditions including rosacea, premature aging and skin cancer.?

The practice carries a fresh vitamin C serum that when used along with vitamin E lotion provides a full spectrum of coverage from UVA and UVB rays. ?People spend too much money on media hype and have difficulty sorting out fact from creative marketing,? said Maureen Brogan. ?That is why we educate our clients on proper skin care. We carry products that are fresh, affordable, and work. Antioxidant serums not only help protect against the sun, but can reverse early skin cancers, age spots, fine wrinkles, and skin laxity.?

If you were not able to participate in this event, call the helpful staff at either of these locations (928) 778-0808, and set up your free consultation today.
