Mr. Pierre Lapointe, CEO of Shared Books Limited is pleased to announce the release of the first Android interactive tablet book produced by the company.
Published on the company's http://www.sharing-books.com web site by Vancouver painter Niina Chebry, Auguste RoDent, The Artist of Abundant Talent, is the charming story of an artist mouse, living in Paris at the end of the 1800s. Auguste is a mouse that sculpts masterpieces in imported cheese. Not using French cheese creates a scandal triggered by the Art critic Mr Brie. Auguste's reputation is restored by the mouse writer B.E.L.L.E. Eiffel.
Ms Chebry took two years to paint over 40 canvasses and to polish her rhyming narration. The book has beautiful illustrations with a fresh unique style. The text is very musical. The story's humour is multi-layered and it appeals to both children and parents. A graduate of the University of Alberta, Ms Chebry, wove her love of Art history throughout the book and shared her knowledge with the factoids built into the book's art gallery.
Thanks to the participation of BC Film and the BC Arts Council Interactive Fund Pilot Program, with funding provided by the 2010 Sports and Arts Legacy, the book was transformed into a fun interactive book by a talented team of graduates from the Vancouver Film School. The book innovates the genre by offering a portrait mode with interactive features, highlighted narration, and the discovery of art masterpieces that are added to a built-in art gallery as the book is explored. In landscape mode the book reads like a paper book to offer parents the pleasure of reading a book with their child.
Mr Lapointe comments: " This has been a labor of love for all participants. Everyone's was emotionally engaged not only because this is a great book, but also because of our commitment as promotional partner of Room to Read to donate a significant portion of our revenue to help Room to Read's literacy and education gender equality missions."
The book was developed on Motorola Xoom tablets. It is currently being ported for the IPad and the Amazon Fire tablets. More details can be found at http://www.augusterodent.com
